No sense in going 11.5 in MLC upper. I skidded 11.5 with LMT. 12.5" is a midlength gas system and obviously 1" longer barrel length than the 11.5" which is a carbine length gas system. Recoil perception can be tuned and has more to do with what buffer system you have matched to your gas system.
